Day 2-Verona, Italy

In my tired state, I completely forgot to mention that I met the dad of Brett Loewenstern on the plane...he is on tour with American Idol right now! I don't watch American Idol so I didn't know him but I still thought it was pretty cool!

Last night, Courtney and Evan took me to this wonderful restaurant called Cellini's.  I tried raw tuna (and it was actually good!) and had a really good pasta dish.  We also got this wine called Prosecco-it was to die for.  I'm so excited to get to go to Prosecco Road tomorrow!  After dinner, Courtney took me to get my first taste of gelato..I got chocolate of course and it was delicious.  These following two pictures are the gelato place and me with the restaurant (and a pretty view of Sacile) in the background!

I was exhausted after we got back so I showered and went to bed around 9:45.  Unfortunately, my body got hungry for dinner around 3:30 am and I had some trouble going back to sleep after that.  I ended up getting up for the day around 6:45 and then went to a yummy place for breakfast and got croissants.

After breakfast, we ran back to Courtney and Evan's house and got ready to leave for Verona! Verona is absolutely gorgeous and I had such a great time.  When we first got there we saw the Coliseum, the 2nd largest behind the Coliseum in Rome!

We window-shopped around a little bit and found a funky cafe to eat lunch.  One of the best parts of Italy is everything is beautiful...I loved taking pictures of all the architecture!

We got to see the Roman Amphitheater, Dante the Thinker, and Juliet's Balcony.  Juliet's balcony was definitely my favorite.  It was different from the movie Letters to Juliet in the sense that everyone wrote on the walls.  There is also a gate completely covered with heart locks.  Legend has it that people lock these locks in order to secure eternal love.  Our final stop was at this gorgeous church.  We were planning on going in but Courtney and I forgot we had to cover our shoulders and didn't have anything to cover them with!  We got to peek inside but unfortunately I only got pictures of the outside!

I wish I could give more detail about each picture, but I honestly only took pictures of what I found pretty.  One of my favorite moments today was when I asked Evan if he know what one building was and his reply was "A really old building". We ended our day playing around in the park.  Porter and Eli learned how to fist bump and showed me how to "give me some skin".  They are the FUNNIEST 2 year olds I have ever been around.

After a fun, long day in Verona, we came back to Sacile and ate the best pizza ever.  I don't know how I'm going to eat Americanized Italian food ever again!  Later, Courtney and I are going to go get gelato to end the night.  It has been an incredible day!
